Woodside Haulage is the historic core of the Woodside Group. We have over 50 years’ experience of transporting full and part loads between Great Britain and Ireland.
There is a strong ‘can do’ culture within Woodside Haulage, driving us to find solutions which makes meeting our customers’ needs a priority. We also place great emphasis on maintaining quality equipment, delivering quality training and applying rigorous controls. Operating across the UK and Ireland, we are proud to have one of the largest and most diverse trailer fleets in the industry.
Our loads typically range from foodstuffs to building materials, so a large measure of operational dexterity is also essential.
Shipping in UK & Ireland
Over the years, we have developed strong links with all the major shipping lines across the Irish Sea from the ports of Belfast, Dublin, Warrenpoint and Larne. As a result we have more than 160 standard shipping spaces every day across all major routes.
Our depots in Ballynure, Belfast, Dublin, Liverpool and Preston give us quick, reliable access to all major ports in Ireland and Great Britain including Heysham, Birkenhead, Cairnryan and Holyhead.
Our Fleet
We have an ongoing fleet replacement programme to ensure that we operate a modern and safe fleet. In addition, all recent trailers added to the fleet are to the latest EN12642 XL specification, which improves safety and load security during transit. We liaise with our customers to ensure our trailer fleet meets their current and future needs and many of our trailers have specific fittings to meet customer requirements. Our fleet consists:

- High Cube tautliners (high volume, low weight products)
- Sliding roof tautliners (to facilitate crane loading)

Professional Operators
As part of our commitment to the continuous staff development, we employ a team of in-house driver trainers, who regularly assess and train each of our drivers. This is supported by a state-of-the-art GPS and telematics system to monitor each driver’s performance.
In-House Maintenance
On-going investment in our tractor units and trailers means that our fleet is modern, and we have an excellent reliability record. To ensure that every piece of equipment is fully serviced, safe and legally compliant, we run our own in-house maintenance facilities in the UK and Ireland.
24/7 Communication
Efficient communication with our customers is vital to our operations. That is why our transport management team and customer services staff work side by side in a centralised operations centre at Ballyclare, Northern Ireland. Our focus on customer service means we also have a policy of continual development of our IT systems: Excellent IT infrastructure linking all sites; Professional traffic management system; EDI and online booking option; PODs available on website; Vehicle tracking and telemetry providing real time info; KPIs/analysis systems generated automatically to meet customer requirements.
