We aspire to break biases within our working environment. For us, diversity, inclusion and belonging are critical. Within Woodside Logistics
At Woodside Logistics Group we employ over 600 staff across a wide variety of roles. Today, women represent 48% of our office workforce and we encourage equal opportunities across all areas of the business. Our aim is to continue to build an inclusive culture where all our colleagues can bring their best self to work everyday, feeling welcomed and valued.
Meet the women behind Woodside's below
I am a Class 2 driver for Woodsides Distribution. I work within the wider driver team to safely deliver goods such as foods, beverages and building supplies to and for our customers.
With my passion for trucks and driving, I decided 6 years ago to go for it and obtain my HGV Class 2 licence enabling me to join the Distribution team here at Woodside Logistics Group. Driving lets me see different places, that I wouldn’t have had the chance to experience if I had an office based role.
Driving is a rewarding profession, and it’s great to see more women getting involved. Being out on the open road, lets you see different sights and allows you to meet some really interesting people. The job is very active and keeps me fit, alongside this there is a variety of tasks to keep you busy. For females considering a career in logistics, I would say break the bias…driving isn’t just for the men.
I am a Traffic planner for Woodside Motorfreight. I plan covered deliveries for mainly GB internal with some NI & ROI deliveries throughout. My daily tasks include; checking driver’s locations, making sure drivers are on target to make their deliveries in their allocated times, liaising with the workshops regarding lorry servicing/issues etc, planning the following weeks deliveries, calling customers with delivery times and data input.
I had originally started in Woodside Motorfreight as a Customer service advisor. In the past I had worked for Nissan GB customer services and thought the automotive industry was fascinating to work in, so when a job came up in Motorfreight I thought it would be perfect change of pace.
I then moved in the Motorfreight team to ‘Trainee Traffic Planner’, and recently got my training wheels off in October! (Although, I know I’m never really done learning) lol
Going off my own experience, I was given on the job training and Woodside's gave me the opportunity to better myself with courses to help my confidence, logistics can be fast paced, manic but highly rewarding. It may seem scary when considering a career in logistics, especially when for so long I think it’s been perceived as a man’s career but with the training provided all self-doubt goes out the window! When I first started 4 years ago, I was only the 2nd woman in the office, now its near a 50/50 split, I think that shows more women are taking the leap!
I support them with email management, diary challenges, travel arrangements and minute taking at meetings. I also undertake other specific activities including arising issues and ad-hoc projects as directed by the Group Directors. I believe it is very important to have a strong professional relationship with the Group Directors, their teams and act as their initial point of contact.
Since joining, I’ve had the opportunity to lead the Project Management of the new office build, allowing me to test my abilities and face any challenges head on.
When the opportunity arose to join Woodside Logistics Group, I jumped at the chance. I have lived in the area my whole life and have followed the growth of Woodside's, their trucks and the services they provide.
Within Woodside Logistics Group we have a number of women who provide a fantastic customer service across many roles and help make the company what it is today. For females considering a career in logistics, I would say go for it!
