Corporate Social Responsibility

At Woodsides we believe that being a responsible business is key to the delivery of economic, social and environmental best practices for the benefit of all.

Giving back

As a responsible business, we 'give back' to what we gain from our customers, employees, local communities and the environment at large. By investing in each, we gain appreciation, respect and a better quality of life - helping to improve our society and contributing towards sustainable business development. We take great pride in listening to our key stakeholders, ensuring that their needs are met and that business ethics are followed at all times.

Our charity of choice

Back in May 2018, and following an internal vote, an unanimous agreement was put forward by staff to support the Air Ambulance Northern Ireland as the chosen charity for Woodside Logistics Group. This vital life-saving service is key to accessing some of the most serious, traumatic and remote medical incidents throughout Northern Ireland, enabling patients to receive urgent medical care and attention.

We are proud partners, branding two of our Haulage trailers as well as a rigid lorry for our Distribution division to show our continued support and awareness for the charity, alongside various fundraising activities all year round.

Supporting local communities

We regularly support our local communities through a wide range of activities to include Ballyclare Secondary School in their F24 Kit Car Project, Ballyclare Rugby Club with their Annual Mini Rugby Festival and participating in the Ballyclare Mayfair Soap Box Challenge.

Raising awareness of the importance of the logistics sector to local schools also plays a key part in our outreach programmes. Giving pupils an insight into a career in the logistics sector, will only help to attract new recruits to the industry in the years to come.

Environmental sustainability

Conserving the environment is paramount to the future of all life. We take this seriously! Our corporate vision reflects this - it outlines putting customers, employees, suppliers, safety and the environment at the heart of all that we do.

To date, we have addressed environmental sustainability by:

We understand that more and more businesses are becoming more attune to environmental sustainability - particularly across their supply chains. With this on our radar, we have a number of new environmental measures in the pipeline and aim to become one of the leaders in sustainable logistics.

There is much more to do, but we now look at how all areas of the business can be improved and addressed for environmental best practice.

Investing in our staff

With over 500 staff, our employee headcount continues to grow just like our business. We are firm believers that happy employees lead to a productive workforce. With this in mind, we invest in all areas of employee engagement and development to include; in-role training, the provision of a healthcare plan for staff and immediate family, well-being initiatives, recognition for long-service, a year round engagement calendar and much more!
